The DER Touristik Online GmbH was founded in 2014 as a corporate start-up and digital speedboat of the European travel giant DER Touristik (approx. 10.000 employees in 14 countries).

We are a group of enthusiastic travel thinkers who build and run the group’s digital e-commerce platform, passionately focused on calculated bets, a thirst for learning, and thoughtful use of data in order to build an extraordinary experience for our travel customers.

Due to imminent growth and an ambitious platform revision we are looking for experienced Software Engineers Back End to help us deliver a market-leading e-commerce experience in the travel sphere.

• Build delightful scalable cloud-native applications and services
• You will take full ownership of engineering projects from architectural design to implementation to deployment and maintenance
• Build and improve testing frameworks, best practices, and guidelines
• You will actively participate in our agile process, analyze features while they are being built, and point out flaws and omissions, especially looking at edge cases
• You work with Product Managers and UX designers to understand their business objectives and propose a feasible technical architecture and solution
• Creative and innovative thinking to identify possible future problems
• Manage your individual priorities, deadlines, and deliverables and measure your success by looking at the overall user experience and usage data
• You help our engineering teams progress with code reviews

• You are a focused engineer with experience in building consumer-facing e-commerce websites
• Good knowledge of at least one current JS framework like React, Vue, or Angular
• You have a deep understanding of architecture and data-driven development
• Strong sense of software implementation lifecycles (design, build, test, run)
• You share our passion for software quality and believe in testing your code
• Excitement to roll up sleeves and make a big impact on a rapidly growing product
• You write documentation when it can help other developers
• You are creative and relentlessly attentive to detail
• You are interested in questions about travel and new business models

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related engineering field, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, Kotlin, Python, JavaScript, NodeJS or Go
• Proven experience in full-stack or backend development building resilient and scalable RESTful APIs in the cloud, implementing OOP, SOLID, and SOA principles
• Experience with GraphQL, Elasticsearch, and Spring Boot is a plus
• Familiarity with Git, Docker, and Kubernetes is a plus
• Familiarity with NoSQL database technologies (e.g. DynamoDB or MongoDB)
• Familiarity with a modern cloud framework and corresponding services is a plus
• Experience with modern unit testing frameworks
• You have full proficiency in English
