- Min. 5 years experience with enterprise-size databases especially Oracle Database Technologies.
- The ideal candidate will have a background in Database Technologies, primarily Oracle/MySQL, and have strong understanding of the database engineering needs of a large technology-focussed organisation
- Capable of working in the demanding environment of mission-critical business systems
- Proven track record of supporting critical 24x7 systems in an organisation where data is one of the most valuable assets Oracle Dataguard
- Demonstrable experience in delivering automation and self-service solutions
- A “can do” positive attitude is essential for this role
- Has a customer-first mentality
- Enthusiastic, self-starting and interested in learning about technology of all kinds

Responsibilities
- Proactive monitoring of the database estate to ensure system stability and security.
- Coordinate problem investigation and resolution with system owners, infrastructure and development teams
- Ownership of the Oracle/MySQL Database infrastructure
- Participate in both Operational and Project related activities
- Part of a team responsible for automation of database activities and delivery
- Assist in developing and testing BCP/DR plans for all key data sets with their respective owners
- Oracle Database migrations and upgrades
- Oracle/MySQL(Galera) Database Performance Tuning and Troubleshooting
- Plan, coordinate, and administer database systems, including base definition, structure, documentation, requirements, operational guidelines and protection
- Oracle installation and patching
- Veritas clustering and Volume manager
