The Job
We are looking for a talented and driven Backend Engineer to join our fast-growing team in Sofia. As a Backend Engineer, you need to be closely familiar with enterprise web applications and will be expected to leverage that knowledge to develop sustainable solutions, develop your expertise, and grow together as a team.
Some of your key responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the development of application features
- Be proactive in clarifying functional and nonfunctional requirements for your tasks with either product owner or project team lead
- Contribute to technical discussions on application design and architecture
- Contribute to the improvements in our toolset, standards, and software solutions
- Stay on top of new, relevant technologies

What We Are Looking For
We’re looking for a person with:
- Three or more years of experience as a software engineer.
- Expertise in software engineering with a desire to learn even more. Ability to design, develop, test, and debug complex solutions.
- Experience with Agile software delivery models, like Scrum and Kanban.
- Web frameworks proficiency and working experience with popular ones such as Spring or Quarkus.
- REST API understanding and 2+ years of experience with building and consuming RESTful APIs. Experience in designing, documenting, and maintaining APIs using tools like Swagger, Postman, or API Blueprint.
- Good grasp of and working experience with relational and/or non-relational databases. Familiarity with concepts like normalization, indexing, and transactions.
- Effective cross-functional collaboration and ability to work with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, QA engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders is a must.
- Ambition and eagerness to learn and reach new levels of technical and personal mastery. Ability to grasp new concepts effectively, push yourself out of your comfort zone, and tackle unexpected challenges.
- Self-discipline and precision in organizing and focusing your attention effectively. You can be entrusted with responsibilities, manage, and keep deadlines.
- Be a team player to contribute to your team's success. "Ego" is a hated word.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English.

Can Be an Advantage
- Experience in building microservices and knowledge of common architecture patterns.
- Experience in developing cloud-native applications.
- Working experience with containerized applications and understanding of orchestration.
- Experience working with message brokers such as Kafka and understanding of event-driven architectures.
- Knowledge of performance optimization techniques, such as caching, load balancing, and database optimization.
- Experience with secure coding practices, vulnerability assessment, and web application security.
